Everything is so boomer coded.

I'm obviously interested in local history, and thanks to horrible social media I recently became aware of a fairly local group based around local (to them, not that far away from me) history. Now generally I could do with being a bit more social, so started to look at what events they had running thinking I could go along.... Nope clearly not. Everything up until a talk in November, takes place on a weekday and in working hours. That's a pretty clear 'fuck off' to anyone who needs to go to work and isn't retired.

I've seen this too with orchid societies (which may even be worse). I'm a chap in my 40s and my experiences with orchid socs have all been so overwhelmingly negative that I really struggle to want to make the effort again. Its worth mentioning that both societies I refer to, have now shut down as they couldn’t get any new members....hmmm.

I've come to the conclusion that societies (and I have my own and several friends experiences across hobbies/sports etc) all are simply run by and for retirees who either don't realise, or don't care that they are excluding the 20-60yr old have money and (some) time demographic who may be interested. I also have direct experience of attempting to change things...lets just say I'm still mentally recovering from that one.
