Yunzi's Blog

Well....I caused some drama

This was a personal blog albeit with a slight preference to regional history. I also have a interest in tech and numerous other things I wanted to share and write about. It was always about things that interested me, and a chance to add words to my photos of places I've been and the details surrounding them.

I posted something, perhaps overly harsh, at a moment of frustration at the end of a bad week and got slapped for it very publicly on Bear, which then caused some other people to weigh in. Ok perhaps deserved criticism, but the net result of someone calling me out on it is traffic I didn’t want. So I pulled my blog for a while.

I made two mistakes, one was letting my negative internal monologue come out into a public space and two was giving an incomplete thought I couldn't justify fully. I wasn't intending to criticise anyone and it wasn't about MY blog - I don't care if people on Bear read my stuff or not and will probably keep things off the 'Trending' list for the foreseeable future. My point, such as it was, is this space (and by that I mean BB and especially the feed) doesn’t really seem to have a great variance in topics. There are hobbies of course and I was wrong to suggest there isn't, but there are huge gaps. I've seen little on any number of internationally popular sports, little on outdoor pursuits and not much even on pets or decorating. All things that on social media would have huge followings. Bear is wonderful, don't get me wrong, but seems to attract certain types of blog rather than a general representation of the world at large. I hope that changes.

Anyone reading this - learn from my mistake, don't let your negative internal monologue escape onto your blog. It wasn't deep, I was just having a rough day and gave voice to thought. Won't be doing that again! I'll be keeping this place more private and more focused on the forgotten history that surrounds me, with periodic diversions into my other niche interests. Its for me, anyone who stumbles upon it is also welcome to read.
