Western Command Stop Line No 1 Project
Like the proposed stop line along the river Teme there was another, much larger stop line prepared along the River Severn.
This was titled 'Western Command Stop Line No. 1' and followed the River Severn from Tewkesbury in Gloucestershire in the South, to Shrewsbury via Worcester and Bridgnorth.
As with the Teme line, this series of defences was readied for an assumed Nazi invasion into the UK mainland. Utilising the natural line of a river would have allowed home defences to slow the advance of forces up the country towards the industrial heartland of the UK.
Map below is very very much a work in progress;
As previously my blog entries below touch on part of the Severn stop line. Especially the sandstone tank blocks in Hartlebury.
